Given past experiences, this is never a good tack to employ with him and can lead to misunderstandings of varying intensities, but it does prove that she can reach him. I told you. Each new encounter between the two highlights more and more of their individuality and their similarities. It highlights the all-encompassing nature of them. Of their relationship as woman and man, as debtor and owed, as Hawk and Weaver, as Jethro and Nila. Jethro instructs Nila to wait whilst he changed from his riding gear in to running clothes, as he is going with her, but what does Nila do?

Exactly as Jethro suspected; she runs. The second time Jethro hunts Nila it is on foot and this time she wants to be caught. With each stride he takes he endures pain; a pain that helps centre him. As he reaches and then shadows Nila, they engage in a conversation that is enlightening for both parties. Cut being the lovable man that we have come to know wants the tally done and he wants it done that day and in full view.

Jethro was reminded how feisty his little Weaver was as he hauled her towards the tally. Every comment seems to have a deeper meaning. The tally is worn by both parties to the debt.

The tally is a tattoo worn in a place on the body chosen by the Weaver. One tally worn on both bodies; in this the Weaver does have the control. In that moment set on vengeance, Nila picks. Seeking his sister, Jasmine, Jethro pursues solace in the silence he craves. Despite the constant internal struggle, Jethro attempts to continue with his daily life as a Hawk and presently that means a rather public polo match. With no obvious choice to make Nila rides with Jethro.

Taking this opportunity to as some rather difficult questions of Jethro, he side steps them and reveals yet another facet of his personality. It may be one of the only genuine interactions that Nila will observe Jethro participate in and a childhood memory is triggered. He asks her what she had said but Nila chooses to ignore him and moves on to the second horse. Realising that the proximity of the horses calm Jethro, Nila fortifies her courage and persists with questioning Jethro.

That persistence pays off as Jethro answers her previous unicorn comment bringing any discussion to a conclusion. The Hawks might do business at polo matches, but to Jethro they are an infrequent opportunity for unbounded freedom.

Getting the horses ready, Jethro made the decision to offer Moth to Nila. In that spirit of generosity and openness Jethro messages Nila as Kite, laying it on the line he recognises she has questions and offers to answer them via message; an outlet for honesty made easier by anonymity of sorts.

A realisation that should be unwelcome and tries to be so. Seeing him making his way to her she does what she does best and runs. Finding concealment in the shadows of the seating Nila gives herself over to the gathering gloom before she is interrupted by the man she is hiding from. The visit turned out to be a riddle filled, cranium imploding experience leaving Nila with more questions than answers and yet another secret to hold from Jethro.

Just as they thought that they had reached a tenuous truce-like state, Cut intervenes. The simple action of showing the salt shaker to Jethro undermines all the progress he has made and also that he has made with Nila.

Sweat ran down my temples, drenching my hair. I bent to kiss her—the sweetest, gentlest kiss. I moaned, tearing myself from his lips to bite his shoulder. His arms trembled holding my weight. He sucked in a breath. He was in the dark abyss—the depth of pain where he normally lived. Only in the darkness existed stars and comets and lightning bolts just waiting to shatter and shower us with light.

The moment I was within grabbing distance, he captured my waist. I moaned again, angling the showerhead harder against my clit. I swallowed hard, answering in my mind. My fantasy knew exactly how I needed it. Jethro bit the back of my shoulder, spreading my legs wider with his. Believe me, I will. My fingers went numb as I slid the showerhead from clit to entrance. I cried out as water shot inside at the same time as Jethro thrust into me from behind, sliding deep and fast, stretching me deliciously painfully.

My heart exploded with bliss. An orgasm squeezed every atom, getting ready to hurl me into the stratosphere. Jethro thrust again and I rode my new friend the showerhead. Nila, Nila, you need treatment, girl. No amount of good sex, good pein, being in-love, would let me beg, plead to stay in that household or in the company of evil. Love for myself is more worthwhile, self preservation, self love is the best kind of love.

This is my sane advice to any woman that is displaying the traits of Nila!!! If anyone reading this book is cheering for Nila to stay. Please go get help, before you end up in a situation you think is romantic. This is not romance or love. This is some deranged thinking. Report abuse. I had looked forward avidly to the release of this, the third instalment of the Indebted series, having enjoyed the first two parts.

It disappoints me, therefore, that I could not give it more than three stars and I did think long and hard about it, seeing as all the other reviews are five stars. Firstly, let me say that I have read several of Pepper Winters' books and have loved them, Destroyed in particular, and I loved the concept for this series which started well. For me, this third part was too repetitive, rambling and insubstantial. Apart from the final chapter, it did little to move the story along apart from covering the second debt which I did not feel was enough to carry the whole book.

There was far too much internal ramblings from Nila all along the same lines that we had heard in book two and still telling us that Jethro is not all he seems to be and she loves the hidden side of him. This was repeated in different ways throughout this instalment and dragged.

It felt very much like a filler as the book is quite short and I feel that really this should have been edited more and rolled up into either book two or book four. It felt like a money spinner, and I know that these series are very fashionable at the moment but I believe that this book was a little overpriced for the brief addition to the story as a whole.

Also, throughout the book we are constantly reminded that Jethro has a "condition" or "affliction" or "disease" and that it is a mystery. This was about as subtle as a child skipping around chanting "I've got a secret, I've got a secret! We still were not told what was wrong with him by the end of this book. These books all end on a big cliffhanger, obviously, which is fine so long as the next instalment delivers, but I did not feel that this one did.

It answered a couple of questions and repeated a lot of information and reinforced my believe that the heroine is in fact rather dim, but I had expected more from the eagerly anticipated third part. On the more positive side, the story still has potential so long as it cuts the repetition and padding so I think I will try the next part and hopefully feel compelled to write a more favourable review. Pepper Winters writes well and fluently and it is certainly a pleasure to read a story in English that has not been too "americanised", I gave nearly half a star for the fact that Nila wears knickers instead of panties, even if they do always seem to be wet!

Childish and irritating to push Jets 'affliction' scenario and 'it's forbidden to name or talk off it'. Very irritating! This book keeps pushing the scenario that 'Jet has an affliction yet it is not allowed to be talked about or even named'! The scenario is literary thrown at the reader over and over and over, tauting the reader so much that it quickly becomes childish, as well as irritating!

And obviously Jets 'affliction' will eventually be revealed and talked about in the book. I literally stopped reading the book because this tauting of the reader about Jets 'affliction' but 'shush it's a secret, it's not allowed to talk about it or even just name it' became so annoying. This book is also mostly a copy of book 2.

Ramblings of thoughts, just written in different ways! This story has been stretched over too many books, just to make money it seems. The author would do much better cutting out all the boring repetitive nonsense and reducing the number of books. But in the end the entire premise of this series is just to unbelievable, with too many big plot problems. One person found this helpful.

You know when you finish a book, you've enjoyed the pleasant read, your Kindle pings you to Amazon and your good book afterglow makes you give 5 stars and write a good review, well now I wish I hadn't because what can I give this one now, this book is so much better than a lot I have given 5 stars to.

I am absolutely loving this series, it's very confusing and you have to keep rereading chapters to try to understand quite what's going on. At some point I have hated all the characters in different degrees, and then loved them again a few chapters later. However there are two I can't find any redemption in, Cut and the evil bitch Bonnie, but knowing Pepper, by the end of the next book I'll find what horrible thing in the past happened to them in the past made them into the twisted souls that they are.

Every time you are given a reason for one mystery, Pepper throws a new twist in the story at you One thing I do like about this series is that Pepper doesn't spend several chapters rehashing the story from the previous book, it's unnecessary, as most people I know reread the previous book immediately before the new one, I wish more authors would do this.

I can't praise this book enough I'm always a bit squeamish when I starts one of Pepper's books as they are all dark but I get through them, sometimes almost reading through my fingers but at the end I breath a big sigh and think " roll on the next one " this book is worth way more that 5 stars.

Second Debt This series continues to surprise me, it is different and I have to say made me feel uncomfortable at parts. My emotions at the treatment of Nila made me feel angry and sad for her.

She has fire and spirit in her personality but there are times within this book where she loses that fire and finds herself failing to keep her positivity and plan to get out going. It is a testament to Pepper, how much this series makes me feel uncomfortable but at the same time I cant stop reading.

Every humdrum object is her arsenal, and sex…sex is her greatest weapon of all.

But she has no intention of letting the Hawks win.
